Allen
Allen is the owner and principal audio engineer of Story First Audio and designed and
set up most of the studio. He has been working with creative professionals in audio most
of his life, particularly on the technical side as an audio technician for community
theaters, churches, and live performances, planned audio layouts for live productions,
and as a mixing engineer and producer. He studied studio acoustics and digital audio
production and spent four years working with cmiVFX where he developed tools used for
learning and collaboration for creative art studios.
Allen is a fan of many genres of music and has an ear for the technical details related to
studio-quality productions. His favorite genres are acoustic guitar, piano, electronic, and
Christian music. He is particularly a fan of the film composer, Hans Zimmer, who said in a
masterclass, "Without 'story' you have nothing," which is where the inspiration for the name
of the studio came from.
Michael
Perhaps the most popular music teacher in Utah, Michael is also a multi-instrumental
musician who plays guitar, electric bass, standup bass, piano, trumpet, and more. Having
worked as a sideman in over 50 bands, and with real-world experience from 10+ years of
touring and performing, he can give real examples of the "dos and don'ts" of being a
professional musician, which translates exceptionally well into the studio.
Michael truly believes music is a powerful tool for expressing feelings and ideas. He can
develop a world of amazing sounds and musical expression that will absolutely blow your mind.
He has an astonishing gift for applying the more complicated aspects of music theory in a
way that is intuitive and directly applicable to the music you love. His musical background
and influence will shape the "magic" of your audio through his application of theory, experience,
and talent.
